hey just wondering what engine swaps are out there. please keep in mind that i would like to keep it simple but different and a 4 cylinder.
i have been thinking using a 4age and possible turbs, as there quite easy to get in aus and i havent really seen this conversion.
i dont want to go 1-UZ (would love to) but dont have the funds and there are a few swaps already done.
the same goes with 1and 2jz engine hard to get cheapish and fair few around

    any imput would be great:bow:

Maybe check out a 302 swap. Cheap and easy if you can find one around your neck of the woods. Keep it carbed it will save you some bones.:waytogo:

the only swap that truly makes sense for a mini in todays world is a gm 4.8 or 5.3 liter v8

it is the same block as the LS1 motor but either underbored(5.3) and understroked(4.8)

these motors run amazingly get great mileage have tons of power a million upgrades and parts and since they outlast the truck there in... low mile crash trucks have lots of cheap motors

the block is also found in aluminum! so look for a LH6 5.3 liter motor
you can buy one with under 75k for around 6-700 bucks... and the aluminum block v8 weighs the same as a 22re!

plus with all the v8 yota swaps that have been done along with all the guys using these 5.3 motors in swaps and racing....

I saw a stock 5.3 with twin turbos putting out 2000!!! yes two thousand horsepower! stock! no internal work... just the turbos

the 5.3 is a 326 motor and with no tweaks has from 275-325hp as it sits

the 4.8 is an underbored and stroked 5.7liter LS1
nobody really wants the 4.8 since everyone wants a 5.3... the 4.8 puts out 250hp stock and you can get one mad cheap!

all the 4 cyl or 6cyl yota swaps are complicated and expensive, the old v8's are not that high HP and are heavy as a MF!

trust me! you want a aluminum 5.3 from a truck less than 10yrs old....

If you really want to keep it a 4cyl, be different, and keep it cheap, good luck.

From everything that I have researched LSX swaps into Toyota trucks are a reall pain in the butt. It would be awesome though! If you go for it just keep in mind that the LS2 Corvette accessories are the narrowist. Speccificcaly the LS2 water pump has the shortest snout by about an inch.

Once I get the LSX swap into my '84 Corvette I'll be swaping the 350 sbc from my Corvette into my truck.

You can try to locate a 18RG not the fastest but a good power gain and i think bolts right up.

2RZ, 3RZ and this one might be more of a b**** but a 3SGE would be nice lol

i know everyone will laugh and heckle me but if i had not sold all my stuff years ago i would put the 2.3 turbo and 5speed from a thunderbird turbo coupe....had one in a notch mustang years ago with no upgrades and it was pretty fun in that mustang. i can only imagine with upgrades how much more fun it would have been...it's a 4 cylinder...it's pretty fun stock...pretty healthy aftermarket for it (albiet dwindlign some) and fairly bullet proof.....that is what i would do if i could find the stuff again

No reason to laugh and heckle you; I remember when they first came out though, people DID laugh at them but they earned a pretty good reputation. IIRC, they were available in the T-Birds, SVO Mustangs, and Merkurs. If I weren't so obsessed with 18RGs, I might try to find one to pop in somewhere.
