So my truck was in a little front end collision and the radiator and various other things had to be replaced. Shortly after I got it back from the repair shop, there has been a really loud whine noise when i start my truck, and it continues through the warm up process. (its not a loose belt noise) Within the last few days its been getting worse and I can't seem to pinpoint where the sound is originating. Does anyone have any tips as to what I can do to diagnose the problem before the part just dies on me? Thanks.

do you think an alternator would make a noise like that, or water pump?

sounds weird. maybe take a long section of hose, like heater hose, hold one end to your ear and probe around under the hood until you get to the spot where you hear it the loudest. might sound goofy but it should help narrow it down anyway.

First look down and around the serpitine belt area for anything rubbing. Also make sure your fan blade isnt hitting anything. If all clear... take your drive belts off and start the truck up. If the noise stops, shut your truck off and spin all the pulleys buy hand and check to see if any have bad bearings or are loose.
