I had my electrical system checked out today by the local chainstore autoparts place. They say my V. R. is bad and the book offers 2 different replacements, depending on when my truck was built - before September or after.

Anyone run into this or know how to tell? I have no 'tag' on the driver's door jam or anything under the hood. They ordered the early regulator and said the later one has to come from the dealership
Would like to get some input on this. Thanks

 

Man, I got rid of all that junk and slapped in an alternator from an 86 truck. It cleaned up the engine bay a little too.
