Is it possible for me to change out the current location of the E-Brake on the dash and relocate it to the center console like in most cars? I wanna get a Center Console from something 5 Speed and make it look factory with an actual e-brake in the middle. I may later turn the truck into a drift truck and even though I could power drift (gas and regular brake) you still need something to break the traction here and there around the turns.

How would I have to go about connecting it all? A Shorter Cable I'd presume and a E-Brake Assembly off a Donor Car would work?

For the locking mechanism, they actually sell E-Brake Assemblies without the lock on it. To where you can just rip the e-brake handle and let go and it goes back down.

I'm gonna do some research and maybe pick a couple junk yards to see what I can come up with. It shouldnt be too hard as far as finding the parts and figuring out what I need to do. Its the DOING part that might be difficult.

Maybe look into a 3rd gen 4runner (96-02) for ideas. I used to own one and the ebrake came up through the console like that. That way you could run all toyota parts. Or even look in the dune buggy/sand rail crowd shouldbhave universal stuff (i believe it was a company called cnc).

You could also run a hydraulic ebrake.

It would all be in the routing of the cable and solidly mounting the new brake handle to the floor. Welding or bolting a couple of 1/8 inch or so plates to the floor where the brake lever bolts down will make for a solid mount. As far as the cable, I'm sure I've seen universal, cut-to-fit cable kits but I'm not sure where. I'd try your local parts store or maybe someplace like Lokar. Just remember that with the cable to try and make the run "flow" as much as possible with no hard turns or kinks that can help the cable bind up in the housing and clip it securely to the body/frame so the cable housing doesn't try to move along with the cable. Other than that, it would all be finding a console that fits and looks like you want it to. Should be a fairly easy mod.

I've been looking into this for awhile because my truck is goin down the drifting route, but never could find any help on this. I even bought the handbrake lever assembly, but realized my truck is too low so the area where the ebrake cable would go would be about 2 inches from the drive shaft. (currently at a 6/7 drop) but Im sure if your aren't as low you can get it to work by mounting the e-brake in the center behind the shifter.did research and the plan was to loosen the ebrake and just cut the ebrake brake wire down to new lever and tack weld a notch(theres an actual word for this thing i cant think of) on the end and tighten/adjust from there. If your interested i have this I bought from this guy on ebay Lokar Floor Mount Black Emergency Hand Brake XEHB-7000F | eBay but ill sell for 80$ its brand new.

I see a lot of these type of e brakes, and get so tempted to work some magic to get them into my truck.

Check out my build thread, I am running a hydraulic e brake in my 86. It's right next to the shifter so it's very convenient
