I sent this email off to the A&E network today. To me its more about this guys right to say his opinion rather than what he said. I thought I'd see how others felt. It would also be good to see how others in other countries feel about this as I know we have members that aren't in the U.S.
    Thanks.

    To whom it may concern.
Hello, my name is Ray, and I'm writing to show support for Phil Robertson from the TV show Duck Dynasty on your A&E Network as well for free speech in general.
I should start off by stating that I do not share Mr. Robertson's views on the subject of homosexuality. I think that in his interview he gave a misguided opinion based on misguided religious beliefs and backed them up by mis-quoting verses from the bible.
That being said, I still feel I had to write this email because I feel, Mr. Robertson is being railroaded by the network out of fear that certain sections of society will be offended because of his opinion. I can't stress enough how absolutely and completely wrong it is to do that to him. This man did an interview with a member of the press. He was asked his opinion of a subject and he gave his opinion on the subject. No one has to agree with him, but he IS entitled to have his own opinion on any subject, whether one or all of us think it is right or wrong. No matter how controversial his opinions may be, no one has the right to try to censor him and his views. That is what free speech, and the RIGHT to free speech is all about.
So I ask you: Please do not jump on the Political Correctness bandwagon. Reverse this knee-jerk reaction and let Phil Robertson go back on his show. TV networks, above all others should know how it is to struggle against the power of censorship and the fight to not bend to the will of whoever can scream "I'm offended!" the loudest.
America is a great nation, due in large part to our free speech rights. It is also great because we as Americans, for the most part, know that as Americans, we have the freedom TO BE offended. We do not have the freedom FROM being offended. We have the freedom to disagree with Mr. Robertson's opinions, as I do. But not the freedom, or the right to demand that he be penalized for having that opinion. That is what has happened to Mr. Robertson. And again, I have to state that it is wrong to do so.
Thank you for your time and for reading this. I would like to state that as a protest, I will not be watching any shows that air on the A&E network until Mr. Robertson's suspension is lifted and will encourage others to do the same.

    Respectfully,
    Raymond Lucero

Is it ironic that a group that prides themselves on taking a meat stick up the pooper gets butt hurt over words?

I mostly agree with your letter. Although the "misguided" and "misquoted" parts aren't completely correct.

Yes, he paraphrased the verse. A paraphrase isn't a misquote. And I believe the "misquoted" "misguided" belief would center around the part of the verse that actually says...

That is his belief. He believes the Bible. I don't have to believe the same thing as him (although I do.)

This is about tolerance. I must tolerate the LGBT beliefs, but they won't tolerate mine? How exactly does that work logically?

This (Political Correctness) has gone too far.
