just out of curiosity... if i build a dual carb intake that will be running twin OEM carbs, think itll be worth it??? same setup as a dual side draft setup.. but with stock carbs.. any input?
stock carbs are horrible! if you are going to go through all that trouble you might as well run webers..
Not worth it for stock carbs... Maybe 2 single 40mm Solex carbs from a VW? It would be cool to see tho! Something different.

Unless they are super small 4 barrel I'd say no ... stick with something about the size of the weber 32/36 doesn't hafta be those ... just about that size
how bout twin holley 2 barrels??? they got 350cfm and 500 cfm.. some 4 barrels are 500 cfm...so im guessing the 350's would work??? im planning on rebuilding my early 22r motor... might just be a single row timing chain.. got it off a celica i think??? it has an efi head on it and im not planning on running the efi head..going hybrid if i can find a 20r head! thinking of full intake and exhaust, trd cam(if i can find one)port n polish, upgrade the valvetrain alot... basically looking to build a mean ass street truck..
dont get me wrong, boost is ****in GREAT! but alot of the trucks here run n/a. or NOS.. but i wasnt thinking of boosting till i go EFI. was thinking of doing twin EFI's too! 1 per 2 cylinders... think its good or just stick with the stock intake style??
I had already thought this one out. Use a mikuni, cannon, whatever sidedraft intake. (short or long) Use CB performance throttle bodies (IDF replacements) Custom linkage Custom fuel pump/ fittings Megasquirt. Ive thought it out hundreds of times. I figure it will cost me alittle over a G for everything. Maybe more. Its a very practical way of EFI onto a 20R head based motor.
thats pretty much the general road i was heading to! alot of peeps here run sidedrafts, and dont get me wrong, ive seen some sick trucks! buuuuut im looking to go where people dont usually go. most likely i will be sketching out the plans and i think ill try carbs first.. megasquirt=megabucks!and i just dont have the budget for that.. thanks for all the input guys! gna start plannin!
Hoi chelu I know usually people run the sidedrafts and nos back home but efi is the most efficient and most bang for the buck for hp if that's what you're going for. Below is a link for the megasquirt which costs $430. That's really cheap for a standalone ecu! Just think about it though you pay a little more for a turbo setup but at the end you gain soooo much!
My thought exactly. The throttle bodies are 48MM! with no venturies, air horns, nothing. Just throttle plates. And you could get em in 52MM! I cant imagine the way it would sound. vroom vroom. And they sell air filter "hats" that go where sidedraft carb air filters go. Basically a plenum chamber with a inlet for a turbo/supercharger hookup. I just know it would work....
damn now i think ill try the EFI job! just a thought...twin turbo anyone??? think itll fly with this setup??
Boo for the misleading title of this thread. I thought I was going to see some cool pictures. I'll fix that with this picture of the LC EFI individual throttle body kit. It's pretty much all the stuff you guys were talking about: A lot of people aren't going to like it, though, because it does cost money. I probably would have gone this route if my truck had been EFI to begin with.
