So I'm ready to order spindles and shocks for my truck. I've been thinking of going with Beltech's for $227 and Toxic shocks for $36/each (doing all 4), through stylintrucks.com. Are there any better and/or cheaper?
i got drop spindles off ebay for $150 shipped. also note u need bigger rims, i can barely run 14" steelies with drop spindles, FYI!
I bought mine off stylintrucks too. Good site, no complaints about then. Yeah 14" rims are tight... but mine are fine. Going bigger soon anyway!
would a 15" rim clear no prob with drop spindle's? i was told u can only use <16" rims with the bell tech drop spindles...
u should be able too, but ur still close..i will take a pic of my 14" steelies on the truck so u get a good idea...
Dont just worry about the size of the rim, the offset is important to, dont wanna scare ya thou' - I ran 15" x 7" with a 0 offset, she was all frogged out but the look was kewl for me at the time, it was a 2" drop spindle in front runniN' 215 60 15's all the way around with a 3" drop block kit in the rear. Best/easiest thing to do is research other rides like yours and compare or have it measured with a wheel fitment tool. . . My pics of proof . . .
I can fit my stock 14's on with the drop spindles, but the turning is a little bit limited. The Datsun I built runs stock Toyota 14s, and my lower arms, and turns lock to lock. Wheels aren't even close to the balljoints.
i ran stock 14" steelies on my 86..... i doubt there's much of a difference between your years and mine. btw i also ran the belltech spindles. turning was not limited on mine another slightly cheaper alternative would be to do 3" drop arms. i got mine from summit for 207 shipped. might save you some hassle with b/j's and wheel bearings since you dont have to tear into them to put the arms on.
Good. If I can run the stockers for now, then I'm gonna try and order the spindles and shocks this week. I told my wife it was gonna be around $400 to get it and she just about flipped out. But, she's coming around. She says she wants to help me with my truck than buy crap for her car. I guess I'm getting the better deal, even though I put my Alpine DD DVD/CD player in her car and I got the regular Alpine CD player in my truck, WTF!
well i am going to replace the ball joints and wheel bearings in the front end here pretty quick so i was just checking if my wheels would work...
i wanted to get the drop spindles too but was worried that they would rubb on the rim. i dont know what ofset i have on my rim is there a way to check it to make sure? and were did you get the drop arms? thanksa gain!
I heard 16" rims or bigger when running drop spindles. I don't have them on yet but that's what I remember learning when I bought them. My 98 needs some spindles too. Has anyone heard of a Taco with aftermarket spindles?
yes, they recommend 16" or bigger, but im going to be running 14" steelies. i didnt have a chance today to get the pic, but i will tomorrow.
