Does anybody know where I can buy 3"drop spindles for my 92yota? suicide doors USED to sell them. I cant find them anywhere now that im ready to purchase a set! any help or suggestions welcome!!! thanks
they make em in 3" now? i thought they were only 2"?? go look on ebay too..... you'll find a set there as well.
2" are the only ones currently in production. I am working on some 3.5" spindles right now. Meant for bigger wheels, but would do a decent static drop on 17s or better.
kool! how much do you think you will get for a set? the main reason I wanted 3's is because im tryn to bag on 20s. I figured it would solve some of the camber issues. I realize I will have some but I dont like the look where there is so much the wheels look like their gonna fall in at any second. Im sure you know what im talkn about! if I have to wind up with 2s how bad do you think it will look?most people only run 17 & 18s around here. Btw that blue yota is pimp! Is that the one that was in mini truckin?
Twisted minis post some pics when you get them done! Would love to see a 3.5" spindle! And i got mine off stylintrucks.com! Good site!
Your camber realistically won't be all that bad on 20s. Maybe 8 to 10 degrees max. After daily driving a truck with about that much camber though, I've grown tired of relatively any camber. I designed control arms to run 18s on drop spindles with only a few degrees camber laid out (1-2) and none at ride height. The spindles I am working on right now are basically meant to do the same thing with a respectable sized 20" wheel/tire combo. Realistically, you will actually be able to bolt the drop spindles on, install some bag brackets and lay crossmember. You won't actually need to re angle the control arms, or cut the lower arms for frame clearance. Everything would be left in tact and still as strong as stock, and you could keep your strut rods if you want to. And you wouldn't realistically have any camber. These are still, in reality, several months out. It's just kind of a brain stew right now, as I am also working on a lift spindle. For price, I think they will be at least twice the cost of any current production spindle. I thought about running Uniballs, but I think it will just raise the price to the point that no minitrucker would want them. So I am sticking to a simple bolt on, stock balljoint type spindle. If people are actually interested I may speed up the development process and get some going, and test them on my daily.
Drop spindles help with camber to a point. But when you get too far down or too large a wheel you will have negative camber issues no matter what. The pivot points of the upper and lower arms are still in the same place so at your lowest point you will have issues. Certainly a drop spindle of 3" or more would help. Its great to see people actually making spindles now. Off road and racing people have been doing it for years.
Any progress??? Hi Seth, Just wondering if there is any progress with these 3.5" drop spindles. I'm currently on the market for some drop spindles. Right now, I'm running bagged stock arms along with a b/j flip on 18" rims. My goal is to lay crossmember without binding the ball joints.
do the bell tech dropped spindles bolt right on or is there any modification work.I have an 84 xtra cab with stock rims and tires. thanks
