I'm looking at pickup up some drop spindles and maybe the belltech drop leafs for the rear, i hate the way the blocks feel..but i'm going to do spindles and ball joint flip up front..so what is that 3" max? My shocks are fairly new, are drop shocks necessary for this kind of static drop?
I don't think they are necessary, not even sure if they would perform better. I bought Toxic drop shocks for my 2/3 drop with spindles and blocks, partially cause it needed shocks anyways. But they max at a 3/4 drop. Let me know how those Belltech drop leafs are, I've been thinkin about getting those myself.
belltechs are smoooth but wont go low enough so you will end up runing drop blocks and leafs. the front will max at 3 with the spindles n BJ flip.
If you do the BJ flip and spindles it will be about 3" max. If u add spacers like SDYOTA does then ul get closer to 4. Loosen the torsions and can easily attain 6-7 (depending how beat ur suspension is) but ul lose a lot of suspension obviously. haha. Right now mine is tucking up front and all i did was loosen the torsions. its litterally on cut bumpstops and has no travel. if i cut the bump stop bracket il get way lower and still have travel.
I think its just called drop shocks cause the truck is lower so stock shocks would end up bottoming out. After i did my drop i just went to the shop, they asked me how low it was and they gave me the right shocks.
when i put the blocks on the back of my truck i blew the shocks in a week. they were old though. i went to the only parts store in town that has parts in stock and the guy knew exactly what shocks i needed. theyre kyb gr-2's. i dont know what theyre for but they were 2 1/2" shorter than my stock ones. not as stiff as i want, but they do the job. if you want the part number let me know
Adding blocks shouldn't change the distance between shock mounts at all. All it does is raise the axle off the leafs. Pulling a leaf does, however.
Lol but if your like some of the dumbassses around here and put ur blocks between the shock mount and leafs then u might have a slight issue
ok coo..i'll just keep running my shocks i have now, unless i have a problem..i thought i found a killer deal at stillen for the leafs at $117 shipped..come to find out it's each! I just want to slightly tuck in the back and have it ride as good as it can..it seems for the price of the leafs i can have a simple rear bag set up with a c-notch for maybe $100-150 more if i find some good deals..decisions, decisions
BAG IT!!! You don't need drop shocks. Spindles don't affect the arms, so you'll only change the arm by about an inch with the b/j flip.
What's the name of the shop? Is a national chain like Pep Boys, Meineke, etc? That part number would be very useful. Also, was that for the front and rear, or just for the front?
