I have been listening to the toyota wisdom flying around this site, but I had a few specifics questions.

I was thinking about doing a 4/5 drop on 16s or 17s with an offset to tuck it in the fenders with a normal width tire. I think that might be a 195 or 205 series tire with corresponding height to keep the stock diameter... I would drop it 2" with spindles and 2" with torsions (maybe pulled and reset 1" and cranked an additional 1" for a slightly stiffer ride.) The back would be 3" drop leafs and 2" blocks...

Will I need to C-notch the back and cut inner fenderwells in front?
Anyone know how low it would actually be?
I'll need nitro shocks, I presume?
    Will I rub a lot?
    How bad will it ride?
Are those leaf springs worth it? (Keep in mind that I refuse to use a block over 3" tall due to lateral sway)

How about 2/3 or 3/4? I want to be slammed, but bags are kinda the last thing on the list of what I want to do...

If anybody has picks of normal size tires (i.e. ones that don't have a different diameter than stock) with a 2/3, 3/4, or 4/5 drop, I would appreciate seeing them.

    Thanks,
    -Nick

mine used to scrub in the front when I turned the wheel real sharp and I didn't think it was doing much damage until I got back home from NOPI Nat's and went out to get something to eat and one of my tires blew out. Turns out it ate the whole inside of my tires on the front, which sucked. So I just cut the part that was rubbing out with the plasma cutter and haven't had any problems since. As far as the back, I have a 4" block in the back and the only time I hit frame is when there's a pot hole in the road or something like that, or when I have something heavy in the bed. Other than that it's not that bad.

You wont be able to drop it 4/5 on a stock dia tire. why do you want to keep such a large tire? but if you drop it 5'' in the rear you will need to notch it. as far as the front goes if you only loosen the bars 2'' it wont ride too bad. just get some nice shocks and you'll be fine.

my notch is just enough to let my truck lay, there is no need for overkill notches. my fuse box is down on my frame by my radiator, but before i was body dropped it was behing the driver side head light on what was left of the wheel. power steering? whats that? lol

I mostly want to keep a close to stock diameter tire for a couple of reasons:

    1. If I ever get big wheels, I want to be ready for them to clear
    2. I hate it when my speedometer is off
    3. (most important) I hate that gap on the left and right of the tire when you see a truck lay frame on a smaller than stock wheel/tire combo.

So, If I notch and cut inner fenderwell, I could do a 4/5? (drop spindles AND 2" bars in front w/3" rear drop leafs AND 2" blocks in the back)

Anybody have pics of a 3/4 drop on stock (or close to stock) diameter tires?

    under my hood...

My truck isnt body dropped, but it will be in the shop soon getting bagged. I went ahead & relocated some stuff to make things easier for them. I also moved the battery to the bed as well.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'm probably gonna get started on cutting mine out tomorrow. Did the wires going to your fuse box reach that far? or did you have to cut them?

Photo of my engine bay just posted in new guy area. I lengthen most wires one at a time to relocate items. With battery relocate, use 0 ga. cable(can get in black only from any welding supply). Not body dropped,so firewall not tubed.

Im almost positive that your not going to be able to keep stock dia tires on a 4/5 drop! I would bet that you would rub like a bitch!

yea, I one of my front tires blew out a while back so I went to put on one of my stock tires back on and when I let the jack down the tire hit the fenderwell. the truck wouldn't even move nor could you steer it.

I guess I'll have to do 2/3 static and see what I want to do from there. I can do 2/3 static with stock diameter tires no problem, right?

Ya i had to tub it alot! lol, its no hard at all. all you do is cutt out the section of fire wall that is in the way, go buy some trailer fenders, and weld in the trailer fenders so you tires have enough clearce. very simple. but i did loose my heater because of it. I maybe could have kept it but I wasnt trying to, so no biggie.
