i was wondering do you really need drop spindles to lay frame. my truck lays out about a 1in off the ground in the front on 16s i going to put 18s on it is there a cheaper way to make it lay frame
is your transmission crossmember stock? also is the frame z'd? it should lay out with 18's on stock spindles, but it will start puttin stress on the ball joints. you could pie cut the control arms to alleviate some of the stress. mine lays engine crossmember on 225/40/18's, with the uppers slightly bound up.
Yea im sure it can be done. But id still spend the extra cash to buy the spindles. Makes everything that much easier.
yea the crossmember is stock for now idk if i will have to make a new crossmember when i put a 302 in it. and no my frame is not z'd. thanks for the help. oh one more thing did you have to make a new crossmember under the back of the cab so the drive shaft dont hit.
the crossmember in the rear is usually cut out on a bagged truck, since a new one is usually made for the link setup. and without a z'd frame, and a stock tranny x-member the frame will always be up about an inch by the front cab mount. you shouldn't really "need" dropped spindles until the frame truly lays out.
be careful with how much lift you use if you don't have uppers or drop spindles though. Stock arms and spindles will nail your rim at lift, have pics to prove it. I have ford probe wheels, I think 16x7 +40 and they would hit when I let the suspension cycle so I bought drop spindles and had it bagged.
mine dont do that i get about 8in of lift all the way up im just tryin to fig out if i want to buy drop spindles or redo my upper bag bracket so i can lay out harder
