Just bought the truck. The frame has been cut and welded for airbags by po. Is it legal to do that? Looks like they cut a frame off another truck and welded it on top of the existing frame with plates on the sides. Looks like it could be cut off and re-welded to stock but again is that legal too? Cut is 4 inch on top and 9 on bottom. Would a shop weld it or is it against the law, or do i have to find another truck?

Wow. Where you are located will dictate whether it's legal or not. If you have any fab skills, you could fix that. Otherwise, it'll be better off finding a good shop.

This is why modifications get laws made banning them. Not good.

Did you know about this when you bought it?

:looney: :doah: not sure bout the legal but that is shotty work to be putting it very lightly. But like Lit said can be fixed it is metal and a good welder can work miracles. :waytogo:

Yep that shxt is going this weekend. My dads friend is a retired welder and has his own shop at his house. Im just gna make it stock and throw another bed on top. Considering the condition of the rest of the truck idk why anybody would do this instead of putting a notch. I'm diggin the truck tho. Was more in the vw scene but I don't see myself getting back into a car anytime soon.

8 piece notch would probably clear the nasty cut part and be the easiest fix. just leave the top frame piece inside the new notch. that way the bottom frame doesn't tweak when the top frame is cut off.
