I just like to make threads when I do stuff to forum member's trucks. Al has a sweet truck and has the u-bolt flip kit which means he doesn't have the lower shock mounts on the u-bolt plate anymore. Al had short little mounts someone did a while ago, so I extended the right one so the boot on his new Billies won't get a hole rubbed in it from the e-brake cable. I made sure to do the dropout test first to make sure he'd have at least 1" of shock rod left at full dropout. (something Toyota doesn't do)
Here are a couple pics of what it used to look like. Once again Brian has come through with his mad skills. I'll break rocks before I break this mount. I doubt that I'll even get to test that.
That mount looks awesome! Beefed, I have been all the way through your site, and I dont remember seeing any pre-fabbed shock mounts on there. Is there anywhere that sells stuff like this? Sorry for the newb question...i have searched i promise
hahaha. I'm not one those search nazi's. I believe all it takes is for 1 person who enjoys helping people to post up and save the poor dude countless hours of searching only to get 1/2 an answer on a thread that never went anywhere. been there, searched that. (for hours with no results) When I made Al's mount, it did cross my mind that there are probably a few people that could benefit from a longer mount like this for this very reason (interference with the e-brake cable on u-bolt flips & Toyota axles) I'm sure there are some nice mounts on the internet, but I'm also sure they'll probably come with a heftier price tag than I could offer this (or 2 of them) for, and they still may not be long enough to clear the cable like mine would. This thing was Beefy since it's 1/4" thick with drain hole for crud.
