So here's my problem I have a 91 22R, the crank pulley that drives the alternator fell off the main harmonic balencer. Well trying to replace the pulley I have hit this bolt with everything I have, impact gun with balls, penetrating lube, then impact, breaker bar with giant cheater bar, heat it up till almost red, broken a Snap-on chrome 19 and a impact socket!! I'm out of ideas help a guy out, let me know what you guys think....... And ya I might just be a vag, well at least that's what my friends have been calling me! Lol thanks

There pretty stubborn sometimes ..looking over all your methods in wich surprised it didn't come off
Have you tried letting a breaker bar rest against the frame and using the starter I'm not a fan of this method but in worse case scenarios its worth a shot ...

And I'm sure you no but counter clockwise to loosen ..just throwing that in

Yea rust is a pain . Well I'd keep trying the methods you mentioned sense it's about all you can do . Just about with the motor in the truck . I no breaking tools sucks ... Could try a air hammer around the edges of what's left of the pully maybe a tad on the head bolt with out damaging it with some heat if all other methods fail .

breaker bar with a 6' cheater pipe. Hope you have a good clutch or some other way to hold the engine.

Here a good trick my friend tought me for keeping the motor from turning in the truck, it's call the rope trick
Take out the number one spark plug, bring it down from the compression stroke then feed rope into the cylinder. It will lock up the motor and you'll have to be one strong MFer to make the head pop off!

But ya still nothing gonna try heating tonight the hitting it with an air hammer then freezing it!

If you can't keep the pully from turning get you a ratchet strap crank pully tool . And have someone hold it while you loosen the bolt with a long breaker and cheater pipe

a long breaker bar with a good impact heavy-duty socket and let it smack against the frame rail is always been the method that I used

I have in the past had to drop the oil pan wedge a piece of wood between the 1st rod and the side of the block. Put you a breaker bar with the right socket in there, get a small sledge hammer and beat the end of the breaker bar repeatedly and rapidly and it would finally come off.

The breaker bar and starter trick has always worked for me. But it sounds like it's going to take more than that. Heating the bolt will probably work but worst case scenario using a cut off wheel to remove the flange around the hex of the bolt will relieve the tension.

Well thanks for all the advise guys, but in the end we ended up hitting it with a 1 in impact gun! Broke the head bolt right the **** off, now I'm gonna go look for a crank! Maybe this might just turn into a re-build! Lol SMH FML

    You won't lift the head.

    You'll bend a rod first;)

I've used the rope method before. I've used the ratchet strap method too (I used high strength webbing instead of a ratchet strap tho.
