got a cracked frame on both sides of the truck right underneath the firewall driver side is the worse about 1/4 separated and cracked almost all the way around. i know it must be fixed but a friends brother is a industrial welder and said hell charge 450 to do it is that a far price?
Thats your friends brother? Wow, kinda high. I figure he would do it for beer money and pizza or something.
let's not forget he will have to get it back into the correct position before welding...if it doesnt line up properly, you will be driving a deathtrap, not to mention going through a lot of tires...if the guy can do it right(and guarantee it),thats really not that far outta line...but its more than i would wanna pay...ask around some more...maybe theres another good welder around thats a bit hungrier... if you do decide to pay the buck$,at least make sure its done right...or ,better yet, try a body shop...they know how to get it straight either way, that sucks...keep an eye out for a good frame...check CL ?might be cheaper to buy an ugly non-runner with a better frame...just a thought
they will pull the frame out for ya http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/pts/1992476478.html they are not a pick n pull they pull the part for ya, if ya order a frame they should pull it, give em a call
Id try a body shop that specializes in major repairs, it most likely will have a frame machine & can handle that type of repair. If you have the time & really find a deal on a frame then you can just swap everything over to it.
big time man like he looked at the truck and called his bro and was like when he finished geting the supplies hed do it so i was thinking ow its free the way they were talking and what not ive been waiting like 3 weeks all i need is frame welded then assemble motor but he as everything to do it right pull frame right hes a good welder been doing it for 30 year welding dragster frames back and stuff but they know i dont have money and like i thought its a very high price i hate getting ripped off....thanks for the insight. now idk what to do
450 is cheap. that guy is going to repair the crack, which means aligning the frame. then if he knows what he's doing he'll plate it over the crack, or it will fail again. ive never heard of this before, makes me think your frame is rusted as $hit, id start over with a good frame, will look better in the end. or you could Z the frame while your fixing it and make it look cool.
well yah hes ganna straighten it welld and weld a plate but when they put the bagg a couple owners ago it had bigger backs so the cut the frame way to much and that why so i guess hes also ganna reconstruct it but my thing is i tought it was like 200 to do not 450 min so w/e i just want my truck done hahahah but big problem is i dont have the money
way more reasonable cause there hooking me up with a set of injectors for free so thats 200 bucks saved
Your truck single cab or extra cab? A guy posted a frame for sale a couple days ago. Comes with cab too. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7534 Way cheaper. Just gotta put in the time to swap everything over.
I'm in Phoenix, and I got an 85 2wd std cab rolling chassis that I'll sell you for $350. Or if you want just the frame, I'm sure we could figure something out. It is an AZ toyota. No Rust!!!
