Well since I've bagged my truck it lays on the catalytic converter I need to find a solution on getting rid of it since I have no emissions where I live. Basically if I get rid of it I would just have a straight pipe because I have no muffler after my cat. So if I remove it and put a piece of pipe in will it hurt my trucks performance or mess anything up engine wise. My step-dad claims that it will burn valves but I know people that run straight pipes and have had no problems. Any thoughts or answers?

i have straight pipe!! cheee and my truck is cherry!
here in hawaii no emissions also...

all it did was pretty much made my exhaust a little louder, less back pressure... just like my old honda

only thing u might have to worry about is you will be throwing a check engine light if there are 2 o2 sensors one before and one after the cat.

dont think it does much damage.. practically all modified cars here have no cat..

    lets see

Ive read tons of CAT pros and cons and heard just about everything under the sun. Seems the overall is that it is good to have one and to not have one the power increase is slight if anything for " stock ", and the most noticable increase to not having one is the ability to have a more open exhaust for sound or if you have a built motor less backpressure. Ive have also heard the valve thing many times, but, the only times Ive actually heard it hurting them is when you dont have any exhaust at all . . . This is an issue that everyone has and could debate forever. But, I did run across a really kewl article here and I think itde be good to read, lots of pros / cons and such !!
