Who here has had their catalytic converter stolen? Don't you just want to beat the tar out of whoever stole it? Now because of some A****** I never met, I can't get the headers I want without redoing the exhaust.:brickknock: Idiots! The ONE time I go to the Lake Elsinore Outlets and I come out of there with shoes and no cat. Talk about a lack of security! Lately, I was bored and drove by and guess what I find, a badged guy sleeping in his car!

here in nj i have heard this is becoming popular since cats are worth more than metal right now. i checked scrap metal prices earlier and found that they list all kinds of cats according to vehicle make and their prices if you have a lifted truck or fullsize its easier for the thieves to get under your ride expect more of all kinds of theft until the economy gets better whenever that will be.

Its happening everywhere bro...I work at a car dealership & for awhile they didnt have any type of security-(cameras or guard) so people were stealing the converters off the suv's cause they were higher off the ground. We had a
total of 25 vehicles hit before they/owner decided to do something!! Not only are they hitting car lots, but like you they are getting people at the homes, work & even in the hospital parking lots!!

up here it happens all the time, mostly to toyota's.

its cuz the cats arnt welded in, takes a couple seconds to break the bolts and take the cat with lil to no noise. most people around here are welding them in. some people go so far as to weld a big splash guard style plate over it. but i think some heavy duty chicken wire would do the trick and keep it from getting to hot.

anything valuable is being taken right now. a customer came in a while back and someone stole the battery box cover off his freightliner. dealer wanted $600 for a new one. i fabricated a new one, fully tig welded aluminum diamond plate, cost him $550. the next day he called, somebody had stole it the same night. so the next day i built him a steel one all mig welded, and its still on there today. also at work we have a 40yrd, scrap metal container full of aluminum. people started coming in on the weekends and loading there pickups, then driving off. they actually have surveillance footage of it happening, and didn't do anything about it.

Probably should have dude, if you were the owner of the place wouldn't you like to see those idiots get what they deserved? I mean, if I knew who stole my cat, I would've wanted to take their whole d*** exhaust, eye for an eye, yeah?:p (Joking) but oh well, at least I got a Magnaflow out of it.:D

i havnt heard about that around here where i live but people in va thinks va ends at roanoke so we dont hear much down here,

but like burnzya i work for the county school maintence dept and we usually keep alot of aluminum bleachers around the shop in the scrap yard, we recently had all the roofs on school board office campus re roofed with metal roofing. the roofers are out of town and there is only one on the entire crew that speaks a minimal amount of english ever since they showed up we have lost almost a whole section of a bleacher ( the big bleacher on football fields ) but we lock it up because they have to get in there to work on the roofs

Thanks. Yeah eventually I will get it caged, and it is welded on because they cut off the mounts too (thank God they left the oxygen sensor), but when I had the new one installed, I didn't have the money. But my dad used to work for Magnaflow, so I had gotten an employee discount at the time, now if I could just get the muffler...

So, you'd rather run without? Good thing you don't live out in Cali. Needless to say, my insurance didn't pay for mine (what am I paying them for!?) but I'm enjoying the hell out of the Magnaflow, just can't wait to get the muffler to go with it.:D

Soooooo, you wannna try taking mine off just by the bolts? :D hehehehe taht thing is so damn rusted on there.

I can't even get it out myself! I'll try PB blaster later on. WD-40 sucks.

and if you tried to break my bolts with no noise, I would hear you squirming and grunting trying to break it off. then BAM, Paintball to your groin

Great idea! I may try that to protect my other Toyota owning brothers and sisters here in Elsinore. I don't want to see the toughest trucks on earth to be cat-less cripples. I'll try and buy a paintball gun or paintball slingshot from my cousin!
