okay so i started to hone in on the problem. when i put the calipers on there were metal rings(almost like clamps) holding the rubber boots around the calipers piston. should i have taken these off before i put the pads in? i am almost positive that this is the problem and am thinking i need to take those things off but does anyone know if they are supposed to be there or were just for shipping purposes? any help would be great seeing how i am getting really tired of the brakes squeaking really bad!

If there is some sort of clamp on the piston there shouldn't be the large metal round sleeve should be contacting the back of the pad buy itself smooth . From what it sounds like your saying there is a strap/clamp to hold the piston in during shipping ? Or from over extending

No there is a rubber boot over the piston and that i feel like should be there. But there are little metal rings almost like ghetto fab earrings hahaha and in their normal position are just smaller than the boot so you pull them apart and then they clamp down over the boot to hold it in place. Are you saying that the rubber boot and those metal rings shouldn't be there? I feel like the rubber boot would be held in place with the pads. Idk i have never replaced an actual caliper just done discs and pads before.
