Im in the process of building my truck and just noticed that the head gasket is bown and I have some water in my oil. Im currently trying to finish up the bodywork before I pull the engine out and do a rebuild. My question is , is it ok for me to start up my truck with the milky oil? I dont want to pull the motor yet because it gets moved in and out of my garage often. Is there something I can add in my oil to help? The head gasket is blown but I take it for a spin around the block now and then just to get the tires rolling from sitting so long.
Just replaced a bad head gasket in my LC Pro Street engine,no water in the oil, just losing water into the combustion chamber! Problem with the water in the oil ,is it's killing the bearing, mains ,rods & rings! The longer you put off the rebuild, the more damage & cost will be!! Also know, find the reason for the failure, have the head checked for straightest & wrapage!
I can see water leaking right under the number 1 spark plug betweeen the head and the block. Nothing is wrong with the motor. It still runs and has never overheated. It does have 220,000 miles. good reason to rebuild and put some performance parts at the same time. I do move it in and out of my garage just to turn it around when Im doing bodywork and primer. Was just wondering how much additional damage I was doing to the engine. If my schedule is right, I'll be pulling the motor some time next month when I paint the engine bay.
i drove my 4x4 around the yard with the milky oil... when it came time to replace the gasket i drained the oil and let the truck sit for about a week. after the week i pulled the oil plug again to let all the residual oil that came down out. then i did the gasket (i replaced my head since it wasn't machinable) and filled her up with some new oil. after running it a while i changed the oil again (wasn't milky at all) and called it good.
a 22r will run no matter what. haha but in your case you should just take out the motor and bodywork the engine bay too, just put a ratheting tie down strap and use that to bring it up and down ur drive way, a truck is light anyways.

Had head resurfaced,.018 taken off,all good again! Just adding a train horn now & another stainless hard line feed @ the bed. After our Toy Drive,Dec.5th,I'll be pulling the interior out & suiciding one or both doors using stock latches & hinges.
