Best tire for 18x8 wheel

    I have been looking at 225 40r18's and 225 35r18's would i get tire rub from these on a non modified wheel well or should i go to a 215 in the front droped with a 2 inch drop spindle and torson lowered another 2-3 inches? im on a 5-6 inch drop in the rear.

    :shrug:

    I plan on choppin up my wheel wells at some point but thought id get you guyses thoughts .

    I'm lookin at 40 series for the 18s I get. An it comes to like 25.1 inchs so it's one inch bigger overall than my 17s. It might rub. Here's a pic of my old yota slammed on 17s with I think a 40 series fenders not cut out or modified rubbed on big bumps

    That's a big YES on the will it rub question. I had 225/40's on my 18's before.

    (Posted that picture a whole bunch of times by now.)

    I had to do a lot of work to make it drivable at that height; pulled and rolled fenders, removed the liner, a bunch of hammering and grinding, etc. It still rubbed the top of the fenders on good sized bumps; it was pretty much unavoidable.

    I know you mentioned you had 4wd fenders, but the pull and roll is probably the only part that won't apply to your truck.

    With the drop you're talking about, you may have to cut the inner fender out just to be able to drive.

    i had 17s on 45 series 215/45/r17...and then i was at the same drop as you said and i had to cut my inner wheel wells.
