So had a lot of trouble trying to install the bell tech 3" drop leafs this weekend. So much actually had to just reinstall the stock leafs.

Has any one else done these on these year trucks?

    List of issues.

The belltech leafs have metal sleeves inside all the rubber bushings. Problem there is the rear shackle has the metal sleeve as part of the bracket. So going to look into having that sleeve pressed out.

Also in the removal process, noticed the metal sleeve in the front bushing is much bigger on one spring. It almost looks like this bushing should have been in the rear instead of the front.

Other install problem was going to be getting the leafs to arch enough to get them on the shackle pin.

If anyone has any experience doing these and has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

Good news, my KYB monomax shocks went right in and should improve the ride.

Well problem solved. Well at least figured out. The place I got them from list part #5978 for my 85. Went to bell tech website and turns out 5978 is for 88 up. For 87 and earlier they list part #5976. Dumb thing is is the place I got them from has the 5976's. Just not listed for my year. Needless to say someone's getting a call tomorrow.

I've heard rumors around the forum that Belltech ships their leafs with the bushings in the wrong ends. The person has to swap them. Haven't personally experienced this, but I've read it on here a few times.

yea, the bushings in these were definitely incorrect. 3 of the ends had the sleeve/bushing that should be on the front end of the spring. 1 of the ends had the correct rear sleeve/bushing, but it was on the front of the spring.

I was able to contact place I got them from and they are taking them back. Ordered the correct ones also, so hopefully they get in soon and are correct.

    I'll keep y'all posted.

Aww, the saga continues. Got my 1 leaf spring they had in stock Friday. Didn't have to worry about the bushings this time, why, cause it didn't have any! No wonder they only had one left in stock, they shouldn't even have been selling it.

They'll be getting a not so pleasant phone call this morning. Luckily, the place I'm getting the other one from has a few more. Fingers crossed they are correct.

Good news, it looks like the right spring. Lined up nicely.
