i read somewhere up here that there are two styles of the pickup, the american version and the japanese, the thread said you could tell which one it is by the location of the gas filler door, is this true? and if so what one has the filler door on the passenger side? thanx for all the help, and just cuz we all like pics heres a pic of my bed freshly shaved
That ice effect looks kicka**! All the 89-95 toyota pickups I know have the gas filler on the passenger side. And I think it's safe to assume that they are all American style (or Canadian).
thanks, put the bed back on the day before the snow storm. then got some pics with the ice all over it, figured it looked pretty cool, but thanx.
No difference in beds for the 89-95 trucks no matter what country they are in except other foreign countries got the 2/3RZ engine with the torsion bar chassis and we got it in 95 but with a new chassis what we call the Tacoma. Only the American Toyota trucks from 84-88 had two different style beds, one with an external lip and one without. From my knowledge the one with the lip was built and made in Japan and the one without was made in Japan but assembled here, but I do not have anything to back that up. So filler location is depending on what engine series is under the hood not exactly the country of origin. James
89-95 Also had the japanese bed with the rails&hooks. IDK how you can tell where they were made aside from the VIN
all north american trucks from 89-95 (not 95 tacomas) had the same bed. only difference was longbed/shortbed. the jap bed for that style wasnt available here. it also didnt have the flare on the side of the bed. look at the posting of the diesel truck by the guy from germany.
