So I'm going to flip my ball joints top and bottom, with spacers. I also have 3" blocks for the rear. So my question is...... Has anyone done this same drop? Did the truck sit level? I'm kinda one of those lazy guys lol. I guess if I have to I'll re key my torsions. But I'm just wondering.
Measure the ride difference between front and back as it sits now. Guessing you'll do good to get 1.5 inches out of BJ flip. So depending on current difference you'll know if you'll be level or not. Don't use the fender wells for measuring. Use a body line that runs straight down the side of body. Course if front is still higher a little torsion tweak shouldn't affect ride too much. I plan on tweaking mine to get my ride height just right cause my back is little lower than front. Lowered springs never go a s low as advertised. Lol.
Ha ha you kiddin me lol this is only going to be a micro drop. I'm too much of a cheap a$$ to buy drop spindles...... at least for a while
Only reason why I'm doing it is cuz I found a 3" block set that I've had laying around for like 4 years so might as well until I can afford some Beefed Taco blocks.
If your going to order some beefed taco order in advance. I ordered mine April 6th and he said they should have arrived last week so in keeping my fingers crossed for this week
Originally 3 but I emailed him to do the 4 instead. I got the bump stops too. So that's all I need. I might just do the front end already and wait on the blocks. I also have all the poly bushings for the suspension. The one ton sway bars for the front and back. So I think that will be too much for a weekend. Take pictures of before and after the torsion rekey and bj flip. I might have some q's for you haha
Ok so out of my sh!tty day, I actually accomplished something. I got my ball joints flipped top and bottom minus the spacers cuz like the moron that I am, I got too big of washers! I got a total of 1" of drop. Worked out nicely. As for the drop blocks they pissed me off cuz they didn't fit. I could machine them to work but why not do it right and buy some Beefed Taco blocks One thing that I think that made it easy for me at least is. The last side I did I took the top ball joint off first then the bottom and that made it much easier to put the top on then the bottom. My floor jack helped A LOT!. So now its time to kick back and a have a beer!
A couple of hours. The other side went way faster since I knew what I was doing after the fact ha ha.
So I couldn't wait any longer. After work today I machined my blocks to fit. As soon as I got home I threw them on. I'm glad I only did the 3" blocks cuz there is not much for room unless ya do a C notch. I'm definitely going to go get some spacers for my ball joints. And need to take off my bump stops. So here are some pics. I'm sooooo happy to be in the static drop club lol. Stock Height Ball Joint Flip Only Ball Joint Flip And Blocks.
Something I thought of for spacers, and wish I'd read up on when I rebuilt my front end and threw them away , is if you can get an old set of balljoints, you could cut off the joint from the brackets and presto, BJ spacers.
