so i want to bag my 1993 toyota ex. cab pickup. I know all the basic stuff you need to get to do it and what not. But what all needs to be removed for clearance, and just for the general instalation of bags. also will i need to remove anything from the engine bay. theres the 3vze 3.0 in there? it will be on 18 inch wheels. it will look so goood when its bagged.
Most I've seen the inner fenders are removed or replaced with trailer fenders. Everything mounted to the factory fenders will have to be relocated. Have you figured out what kind of link setup you gonna run? Oh yeah, you have to to "z" the frame in the front, otherwise it will not lay frame. example...
what does z ing the frame consist of? ive heard of doing a c noth in the rear of the frame. but nothing about a Z..in the front?
If you dunno what "z-ing" the frame is when bagging a truck i would highly recommend one of two things. 1. Educate yourself more before doing this. 2. Take it to a shop/someone that knows what they doing to get it done. Also do you know how to weld? Not to be a dick but its easier when you know, or at least have a general idea of whats going on. Dont want you to be into your project and get held up cause of something like this and you realize its out of your skill zone. But pretty much in order to lay frame nothing can be lower then the frame. The "z" helps you accomplish that. If you dont "z" still going have stuff lower then the frame and you not going lay frame like in the pic.
This site: http://www.twistedminis.com has a lot of useful info, tips & pics as well. Youll have to register to see/use the forums, but its well worth it. Also threre are several build threads on here that have tons of pics too. www.yotascene.com
i know i dont plan on bagging it really soon. thats exactly why i am asking questions like this. And yeah i know how to weld, and i talked to my dad who use to own a custom car shop, and he told me what z ing a frame is, and knows how to do it, so im alright, it just seems like alot of work to lay fram. I can still put bags on my truck without zing the frame, it just wont lay frame then correct?
Custom aint cheap or easy. And yeah if you dont z going look like the picture dave posted. What kind setup you was planning to run?
do you have a picture of what that looks like? i just want an idea what it would look like if i didnt lay frame.
like this, Notice how the front does not sit flat with the ground. Well if you Z the front the front would be layin on the ground with the back [/QUOTE]
Dave or Dgerfan55 do you guys know what kind of door handles that is? They look smooth and go with the bodylines, unlike the stock ones that stick out some.
I dont know what exactly they came from but i do know that they are custom and not the stock door handles. Ya thats one of the things i like about the truck. Dont really care for all the tribal paint. But hey everyone has there like and dislikes.
I was thinking maybe like corolla ones. Just gotta make sure the internals, the rods and stuff line up. And the paints not that bad. Add a little more color in and you got old school mini truckin paint right there. Thanks for the reply though.
Ya you maybe right about the handles now that i think about it, they sorta do look like them. I would like to do something crazy different like this but dont know what yet. I like one color or maybe two but it depends.
Here's the article on it, it just says GM handles... http://www.minitruckinweb.com/features/toyota/1006mt_1991_toyota_extra_cab/index.html
I get one 87, and they get the huge bulky handles that stick out and the lock is seperate. So i was thinking of shaving them and running poppers and just leaving the lock, or putting new handles. No matter now though since my truck is down. Couple ideas i had bounching around. I was thinking cheap upgrade that not many will notice. Dave where you at?
