i'm looking into picking up a 89 2wd longbed, but i just don't like the looks of a long bed. was wondering if there was a difference int the wheelbase or frame and if i can find a shortbed can i just swap em'?

just buy a short bed truck if you dont like the long bed.
to put the short bed on a long bed frame, you will have to cut the frame in half and section out the extra bit (i think its like 7'') that is there between the cab and rear wheels. then you are going to need a different drive shaft and then you will have to deal with all the fuel lines, electrical, brake lines and cables, plus the gas tank might be bigger too.

on the 89-95's i personally dnt really notice the difference. Mine could have been a x-cab longbed and i could have cared less. doesnt look as noticeable as the previous models, or any other longbed for the most part.

Once again this is just me and my POV.

If you do wana get a longbed and make it a short bed then half way thru think "F*ck i shud have just spent the extra $400 the other guy wanted instead of backhalfing this one to get it where i want it" Then by all means go for it. Not knocking u but just my $.02

They are different. The extra lenght sits in front of the axle as well as behind. Long beds also had bigger fuel tanks. It can be done, but not worth it in my opinion.

    :D I'm kidding.
The longbeds are sexy... when you slam it!
