I'm trying to build a hidden cd player in my glove box because I want to run my old school alpine pull-out tape deck as a dummy unit in the dash location. My problem is no one will give me a solid answer on what to use to bond the birch wood I used for the panel to the plastic of the glove box. I know I can use fiberglass, but for such a small project i'm sure there is something easier to work with, right??? Some kind of sandable panel bond or something? Also, if anyone has done this...how did you brace the back of the CD player in the glove box? I guess I could cut the back out and place wood slivers to support it.
Hit up the member "slacker" on here... GREAT 'glass stuff. From a full canopy to door panels. I'm sure he can help you.
Sounds like some JB Weld or some panel bond glue is in order. For the back, you could support the deck with some small strap steel. The stuff with a bunch of holes. CD players don't weigh much. I like the idea though.
I heard moldable plastic has became pretty popular recently for small tasks like that. I have thought about giving it a try for a couple odds and ends. YouTube - Hand Moldable Plastic Molding a handle Amazon.com: InstaMorph - Moldable Plastic - 12 oz: Arts, Crafts & Sewing
