Any welders here?

    Yo im going through welding school right now. But i need some tips on the vertical up position. I cant do it for ****, i cant even get a bead going:(

    any tips or tricks on vertical up pleaaaase help. mig btw

    it's all in the wire speed.

    i usually slow the wire down a bit, and do a really slight whip, with the gun angled up about 45*

    It's a pain in the ass to get the hang of welding up but once you get it you'll get better. Like burnzya said slow the wire speed down a little bit

    I think burnz got it the best. it also applys for stick and tig.

    i would start with the smallest wire you can get. the bigger the wire the harder it is to go up.

    im working with .35 wire. ive looked at several videos demonstrating techniques. still to no avail.

    after about 3 hours off dicking around with it today i sorta got a feeling for it.

    im running 16 volts and wire speed is about 160ish and welding on 1/4'' plate.

    usually i have my voltage at 18-19 for 035 then adjust wire speed until it sounds right
