got hit up by a local guy to get his 89 dropped this weekend... some before afters...... this was a 3/3 drop although i think the front is still in need of 1 more inch to close the gap. said he was gonna drop by next weekend since he will also have starion's installed by that time too my standard drop method...... b/j flip + torsion drop up front, and blocks out back Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09 Shot at 2010-05-09
yea........ he installed a set of starions when he got home and sent me a cell pic of it..... it will need to come down 1 inch in order for it to look right so he's gonna bring it by next weekend. ill get shots of it with the starions on it and get wheel/tire specs for site reference.
Question #1 - Is all you used in the back is 3" blocks? Cause thats what I did to mine and even with the weight of my bedbox that one sits a little lower in back. Question #2 - How much will a b/j flip drop it? I have 2" drop spindles already and would like to go 1" more. I have not touched my torsions yet. Should I just do that?
nice job! looks like nver's truck when he first did it. lol. i think the front needs to come down an inch, then the back 2", then the front another 2" but dont ask me. i like draggin without bags and yeah, i say go for torsions and do a flip. but again, dont ask me
Springs sag if used .. maybe his truck had more in the back for more of its life... BJ is worth an inch or so if not done.
if the springs were always used and abused and carried a load theyll sag. Mine do. And a BJ flip will give u 3/4-1' drop. I say u do it and turn your torsions down an inch or two. As for the rear idk
I lowered my 86 with blocks and the torsion bars, i had it done for 50 bucks. I dropped it 2 inches all around. Its a rough ride around town but looks better.
1- yea, 3" blocks were all i used. his springs are sacked out it looks like from abuse or heavy use.... so they dropped the truck almost an extra inch or so. keeping in mind i also removed a "helper" spring leaf off the back im assuming thats why its sacked out too.... 2- the b/j flip will render you abour an inch to 1 1/2 inshes depending if you use a set of spacers or washers like i used in the writeup at the bottom of the forums. i would go with a b/j flip and crank the torsions down just a bit to bring it down more. his truck will be coming back for a torsion adjustment this week. byker..... if everyone rode as low as we do, go karts would get jealous
Ok, so you did remove a spring. I haven't touched my leafs yet. Been thinkin about getting Belltech's drop leaf springs. And with the front I already have 2" drop spindles installed, so I'll probly just crank the torsions a little cause I haven't touched those yet either.
yeah, i have the belltech 3" springs out back and they made a big ride quality improvement. dont expect to carry much though without sagging.
u can do wat some dude on Infamous Nissan did. he got the beltech drop leafs, took em apart. Added leafs from his stock leaf pack to stiffen up the ride while still maintaining a 3"+ drop..
Are you runnin blocks as well or just the drop leafs? And I'm kinda curious if it would handle the weight of my bedbox.
i can try.... seems i may be predisposed most of the weekend between a few people already but hit me up either way. where in SD are you?
