It's getting hot.. I need to recharge my AC.

What type does it use R12 or R134a? Also where is the low pressure side?

Anything prior to 94 should be R12 unless someone has changed it over to 134 or one of the other substitutes. the low pressure side is the suction side, it should be the line from the compressor to the evaporator.

look at the fittings, and see what you have. r12 and r134 are entirely different

piece a kit together and install it. I put together a kit and installed it myself. then just had a shop vacuum/charge it. i had the retrofit fittings installed before i took it to the shop.

I drove a whole year + without A/C and still do it to conserve gas... It's not too bad if your windows are open and you're moving ;)

    Back in my day....

no seriously. I've had 2 cars with working AC. sold the last one like 5 years ago. Next one will have it though, it's a lot warmer in southern IL than northern.

when I moved last summer, I used my AC-less truck to pull a 5k+ lb trailer 350 miles. I couldn't really go faster than 60 (trailer weight/sway, not lack of power. go 22re!) it was 105 out and I had a slightly leaking, falling apart radiator so the heater was on for the hills (really didn't change the cab temps too much lol). When we got here, my fiancee complained that it was a long hot trip. I just glared cause she has an autotragic 03 mazda with cruise and AC.
