I can get it running if i stay on the gas but the motor WILL NOT IDLE!!!!! I have absolutely no idea why it will not run now other than I broke something.

It was running fine but then I shut it down and it dieseled so I turned the key back to give it spark. Got it back running and turned it off again and then it backfired through the carb pretty hard. Not it won't run or idol what so ever. I'm so tired of this garbage I just want to burn it.

things i would check....... sounds like its got a lean issue or some sort of air leak somewhere.... ignition also may have something going on with it still.

things i would check fuel/air wise, fuel float level. check the sight glass and make sure the level is pretty much near the center. if not (too low or too high) take the carb appart and check the float.... might have got bumped and stuck in an odd position. causing it to run lean or rich.

make sure you are getting enough fuel. check to make sure you dont have a huge air leak somewhere.

the ignition may also still be the source of your issues. make sure you got the firing order in the 1-3-2-4 starting from the "10 o'clock" position as number 1 cylinder. also, are your plugs gapped correctly?

dont be quick to toss in the towel......... i was "there" last week and i didnt even get to where you are at where your truck is actually cranking so........ dont give up. if you need to, take a brake. leave it alone for a few days and come back to it with a fresh attitude and clear state of mind to try and diagnose the issue. some setting obviously changed. once you figure out what setting it is on what, it'll run the way it should. thats all there is to it.

might sound stupid but, get us some pictures of the motor close enough to see the drivers side, and some of the passenger side. might help to have a fresh set of eyes looking at stuff under there since we cant be there in person to help you out. :waytogo:
