I received the truck from my dad around April of last year, it was and beat up, all panels of the truck had dents, motor wasn't running, tags were pass due by two years. So far I've gotten it primered, now running, tags up to date (over 600$), had to get it smogged, failed the first time. Emissions and idle speed too high, new catalytic converter for 300$. Over 3000$ invested into the truck. The trucks been great so far, nothing new. Pictures will be posted soon.
Yea, it was off a crappy boostmobile phone, no good enough girls around haha, I'll upload some recent pics in a while
Hopefully in the next couple of months, school and my first baby are coming so money's tight at the moment
Does anybody know how hard it is to change the transmission from auto to manual on these yotas, what parts and what would be a good transmission?
Swapping to manual . Ideally you'd want to find a donor truck but that's kinda iffy . You'll want the following pedal assembly and clutch master cylinder and hard line slave .shifter .ecu .and searching for a 5spd tranny . Think the trans mount is different ? Cinnamon a member on this forum has done this swap I think he can give you some details/info
Thanks man, I've seen how post, I'll ask him, thanks once again on pointing me in the right direction
I didn't change my ECU. You'll need a W-series bellhousing. I was told a W4x series wouldn't work, but that's what I have. Easiest to find a 5spd that came with the 22RE. Transmission mount, get the one from a manual truck. Driveshaft, get one from a manual truck. lol (or you could have it lengthened.) Hopefully shifter comes with tranny. That makes life easier. Then get marlin crawler bushings for the shifter. I got 6 flywheel bolts from Marlin Crawler. I got my Exedy Master and Slave Cylinder from Amazon. And the Exedy OEM replacement clutch from Amazon. I didn't find a hard line, so i got a stainless steel braided hose made for me with necessary fittings. Pedal assembly, find from a manual truck. Got mine from a 84-88, didn't even match. Measure and cut the hole for the shifter, after the install. the master cylinder hole cutting isn't too tough, just limited space and comfort. I have a W58 from a SC300 with that W4x bellhousing. That Exedy clutch does me really well. I have a brute force flywheel, stock weight, oem replacement. Clean all your bolts and nuts threads, makes it much easier. red loctite on certain things. map out the transmission switch for the auto so you can jump the neutral start switch and then wiring into the reverse wiring so reverse lights come on. and if you have cruise control, "Drive" needs to be grounded I believe. I still need to do that.
Coming out of work I got beat up/mugged/robbed last night, I got hit with some flat metal piece above my knee, for kicked a couple of time in the ribs and chest. All they took was my wallet, phone, shoes and keys to my mom's truck so had to get a ride home then back for her truck, as for the toyota, nothing new on it, besides that it overheated on me about a month ago, the thermostat was changed and my battery and alternator gave out, also might have a blown head or head gasket, will upload pics of engine bay and interior tomorrow
****ing ****, bro, are you okay?????? I hope you're doing okay as of now, man, that really fckn blows!!
For serious, I hope you're alright. Thats why I keep some knuckles with me. Hope you find the ****ers and enact some sick revenge on my behalf. As for the truck, if it overheated it may have tossed the gasket. Check under the oil cap and on the dip stick for milkshake looking gunk. Its an easy gasket to change in an afternoon. Good opp to refresh other gaskets and the various fluid pumps up front. Keep us posted on how it goes.
It was light brown/tan out of a 4runner that was here in a local yard, got that and cup holder, and little things. I replaced the tps and it didn't solve my problem
