92 toyota (22re problem)!!!!!!!!!!

    i have a weird problem, truck starts fine but ONLYsome thimes when am in 2nd gear, the engine strugles it sound like little explosens in engine, so i dubble clutch, it does it from 1st 2nd 3rd rare in 4th never in 5th. i put STP in gas; dont work, lucas injector cleaner didnt work so i had a carb cleaner and sprayed the intake, so i started truck and it did the explosion agin, any one had this problem or saleing a 22re:cry::rolleyes2:

    It sounds like it could be a detonation issue. Have you checked your timing?
    The timing may not be advancing during acceleration.

    some one told me it could be my catalist converter, do to the crums and rust cloging it. ( i still has the original on and muffler:rolleyes2: can this be possible:brickknock:

    talk to my freinds dad hes the local mechanic, i told him whats going under the hood and said the same thing (litneon said) most likely to bee the timeing. hes going to check it today around 5 30 or so and find out if its that, he sounded like he new **** load on 22r/re engines. plus he drives a toyota van dont know wat year!:waytogo:

    work on the timing then proceed to cleaning out your intake manifold. i'd give the cat a check too. mine has a 1 inch gut through the middle... hehehe.
    proceed to making sure you have good sparkies also.

    well i have ngk wires and the expensive ngk spark plugs, but yes i was thinking of cleaning the manifold, and another thing i bought a borla muffler from ebay but wasnt to sure what size to go. so i go the 2 1/2 but i think its to big what yall think? and what size pipe i sould go with when i install it:shrug:

    2.25inch piping does best for the 22R/RE's. a 2.5 muffler shouldn't harm it. as long you have some backpressure and not too less but not too much.


    I'm running OEM manifold, OEM front pipe, and OEM cat (except... with the 1" hole gutted down the middle) and it ends right there.

    Personally i like it.

    :yes go my truck back it runs like new, but am still going to take my old injectors to get ultrasonic clean, found dem on google i typed ultrasonic injector clean and dis shop in houston like about 30min from where i live. they charge 18 for each injector they have pics of how they clan them and it looks and sound like it works, so have to give it a try!!:clapping: www.injectorrx.com
