    Soooo...

My truck has been running great after I replaced the alternator a while back which solved several issues. But...

Cruising on Hwy1 coming home from work. ~70mph in the slow lane. The engine just turned off. No drama. No dieseling, no hesitation or sputtering. The motor just turned off. All the lights still functioned. The motor still turns over. It just wont start.

I checked fuel and it is a go.

There was no spark from the coil. Replaced with a new coil. Still no spark.

I went ahead and did a new cap and rotor too.

So working back from the coil...I am not sure what all can be the culprit. There is the assembly below the coil...the ignitor assembly I think it is called. And from there, is there a fuse between the coil and the computer? I am going to pull the kick panel and start checking fuses.

I am just looking for a list so I can start checking things off. Anyone got a good 22R brain laying around should I need it?

The worst case would be the aftermarket alarm that was installed on the truck. But I figure if it was on the blitz, it would disable the ignition and the truck would not turn over?

Back outside to check fuses. Hopefully a few of you are around to post up before I get back.

A big, big thanks in advance!

So I will try the ignitor next. Hopefully the parts store carries them vs. dealer only part. I checked all the under dash fuses and they are all good.

    Thanks.

I appreciate the advice man. But $25 wont break me! The ignitor was indeed the culprit. Those damn things are $250 new through Autozone. Screw that!

Our Pick-N-Pull will refund if the part doesnt work and I go there all the time.

    Thanks again all.

I was going to say the igniter because you said you have a 22r not a 22re the re is injected not carb and the 22r with a carb dosnt have a ecm(comp brain)

I was letting him know that I would have started with the igntor and I realized it had been fix thats why I stated "I was going to say the igntor" also if he wants to find a computer brain on his truck by the info he gave there isnt one so I was helping him save time and not look for something thats not there

well if you lost your timing chain, it would still turn over, but the camshaft would not be turning thus the distributor would not turn also, showing no fire. This happened on my integra, timing belt broke and i was not getting spark until i popped the valve cover off and noticed the belt was broken. Turn the rotor to a particual spark plug contact on the cap and see if that one fires when you try turning it over.
