ok, so i just recently started this project on sunday. Im building my first truck with my dad, basically going to be a fun lil daily driver. Blacked out and what not. Anyways we are still working out a game plan, but i think we have a good idea of were we are going with it. Well here is some pics of my little progress, but you got to start somewhere. Any questions, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I know you guys love pictures.

I'm completely jealous of your lack of rust. You could throw a cat through the bed of mine and not touch any metal!

    Those wheels are great!

    Thanks!

Umm well it didnt have the original bumper, the guy my dad bought it from about 12 years ago had welded on a 3" solid steel peice of tubing straight to the frame. So we had to torch it out of there.

Right now we are having a little trouble. When i put the wheels on the front, i realized that they looked a little wide. A few measurements later, they're not going to tuck in the front fenders. So im not sure what we are going to do. Im thinking about buying basically a front clip from a 4-runner or the 4x4 versions and use the fenders, bumpers etc. Any other ways to get aroung the tucking problem?

Looks like you might have some trouble even if you go with the 4x4 front end. It will be a tight fit.

probably not going to tuck...try 4x4 or 4runner fenders only first to see if that will work, but your probably gunna have to cut the inner lip and roll them a little

So thats like the only way that they will be able to tuck? I got no problem with cutting the lip but ive been reading a little about something called a camber? What is that, is that when the top of the wheel like bends in?

yeah it is and it destroysss your tires... unless you like buying tires, no good... and camber is the name of the position of the tire like that, toe is when they look like this driver side is toe out nd passenger is straight |\ or if your alignment is realy off it could look like this / \ and would eat tires bad also

I would go with 4wd fenders and corner lights....then you will still have some work to roll the fenders...may have to even tweak them a bit to get them to tuck. It's going to be tight.

Another angle would be to look for some fiberglass pre runner (aftermarket) fenders. You may or may not like that look though.

A little camber is actually good. Especially if you drive hard. Helps you corner by keeping the tires flatter as the vehicle leans into the turn. (actually allows me to wear my tires even with the way I drive.)

You should leave it sticking out like that and then lower it a bit to close the gap. Dont know if you like that style or not but i think would look good. Only problem is you cannot do a serious drop with it like that.

Yea, im not TOO big on buying tires that frequently. lol

How much of a difference are those from the regular fenders?

I would do that but thetruck is going to sit on the frame. Ill be draggin the bumper so its got to go pretty low.
