My 86 is 4wheel drive, would this be worth slamming or should i sell it and get a little 2 wheel drive?
well i look at a couple 84 85 86 87 88 and they all look a bit different...if anyone could give me some more info on this truck that would be great.
its an 84-88 with later model grille added on, also has 4x4 sheetmetal. check on phoenix craigslist, i see them pop up for as low as $500, or maybe somebody would trade a 2x for your 4x
its an 84 hilux, and i would say its in japan. here is more picshttp://rides.minitruckinweb.com/ride/1019357/yotaku/1984/toyota/pickup/index.html
heres one http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/956620356.html throw on your fenders and bed, swap the motor and your ready to go.
its looks alot like my truck just slammed, same body style all the curves are the same, even the hood, only difference is front grille, what model is that from?
well i don't have a 4x around to look at but i would imagine they have accomadations for the transfer case, and the front suspention is different between the two. i tried to call pick n pull to price a 2x4 frame but they didn't answer. i think you could get a complete frame with front and rear suspention for around $200 on the 50% off day.
Hm, well i went outside and looked at my truck, took some pictures with my phone but you cant really see much, maybe ill pull out the good camera soon. Transfer case doesnt look as if it would effect the frame much, just a crossmember going down to the transmission then the transfer case just is connected to the transmission and drive shaft, not the frame. EDIT: Just looked around, only difference is is the 4x4 is bigger and stronger.
i thought the 4x4 uses a upper and lower control arm, where as the 2x4 uses strut style front suspension.
You're going to save more money just selling your 4x4 out right and then buying a nice 2wd in excellent shape..... Also is this your daily driver? Where do you live?
frame/body wise the only difference is the front 2 body mounts for the cab. if you have a extra cab there are some other differences. the steering should bolt up providing you use the 2wd stuff. but with all the work needed i would just swap my motor and stuff over to a 2wd chassis.
I would try to save up for a project truck that way you can have a vehicle be down so you can work on it without having to worry about having a ride.
