Any body have any good articles or how to's for body dropping an 86 pup? I'm thinking of venturing into doing it myself, but I wan't to do the research before hand.. your insight is greatly appreciated
Seth(Twisted Minis) posted a ton of pictures of his truck when he was building it. Not the same year but it's all the same concept. Look up his name on here and find the post I think it's titled "Her Name is Frank"
I believe seth did quite a bit on his that isn't needed really. Turned his clutch setup around, and I believe his brake....maybe thats backwards, I don't remember. Depending on what you want to do it MAY be easier to just move it up and over.
Everything I did was 100% necessary. Especially since my truck is several inches shorter than the new bodystyle trucks. My tires come up to the firewall pinch. No room for a clutch master. And I moved the booster over because my tires hit it. This comes in to play due to the fact that my truck is also 2 inches narrower than the new trucks. This isn't really necessary on the newer trucks, but moving the clutch often is. Bodydropping my truck on 18s is like doing an 84 on 20s. That said, I do have a lot of pictures from when I did my bodydrop. But I didn't take enough to do a detailed write up. But I have a very detailed article coming out in MT in a couple months if you can wait for it. Its complete step by step, with instructions for each step, and over 50 pictures. Its supposed to be in the July or August issue. We are on the May issue right now.
can't wait . . . Well, when it comes to overall research, thinking, development, design, and fabrication, I would have no doubt in Seth's making of any mini or ride ! The things Ive seen him do are breathtaking. Definently has added and element to minitrucks that not many others have done, Im just damn proud he drives a T o y o t a ! I can't wait to see the pictures and read his stuff in the upcomming issue, and would so love to see that ride in person ! Ide have to admit that his work inspired me to do more to mine & to build another truck. If I were looking for drop ideals, I would definently set yourself 3 - 4 hours of time to read everyone of his posts and especially his project(s) forums. " . . . Okay, I'm done ! " L o w N l o u d
Thanks everyone.. Keep 'em coming guys! seriously, all the information i can get the better.. Oh, and Seth, I saw some of the pictures that you posted on this forum... the job you did looks great!! and by the way.. I saw your truck @ reso... unfortunately, my buddies and I didn't make the show on time, so we ended up taking a bunch of shots when everyone was rolling out.. I think I caught one of yours... i'll see if i can post it.. =] and I'm looking forward to the article.., I want to read it before i venture off into hacking into the cab...

Yep.. Yep.. it was just four of us, two of my buddies (one with an s-10 w/red bed), and my buddies girlfriend.... we were just chillin there looking at all the sick trucks roll bye..
oops, sorry about the confusion then. I meant it may not be necessary on the new trucks. I hadn't seen them completely reversed, just clearanced a little or whatever. Those pics are very cool. It is definately one nice truck. What is the body drop article going to be done on?
Its a Mazda, but the same basic principles are there. It shows details about cutting the floor and back cab wall that a lot of people are confused about. It shows how to modify the floor for a stock carpet to fit, it shows a very simple way to move the clutch master, tubbing the firewall the easy way (minimal cutting), and basically everything but the bed.
