Just picked up a 85 single cab.
Had a swapped engine. They didn't make 85' with re right? It's a 5spd. That must've been changed also?
So anyways it runs good. Unknown mileage on engine but the chassis has 208,xxx.

Not super familiar with the 22re's. How good of gas milage should i expect?

Anything i should checkout or look through on my engine/change?

I see a lot of timing chain tensioners coming loose/wearing through and eating thru the cover problems popping up on here.

Anything i should lookout for or just any knowledge given on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You should see around 22-24 mpg i think. Do a tune up, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, change oil, oil filter, and air cleaner etc. and you'll be good.

    Can run synthetic? Or No?

Should be around $100 something for all the plugs/wires/cap/air filter cleaner?
Should i get higher quality plugs?

You can run sythetic but i think it wpuld be better to just stick with conventional if thats whats already inside. Go look at the poll about conventional vs sythethic.

As for the plugs and wires the higher quality the better, better spark=more fuel burned/less fuel wasted.

I read somewhere that the 85' was the first year 22re came out. I guess the guy never knew what he was talking about.

Gonna go through it...give it a good wash n wax.

Maybe post some pics if i get around to it.
