Hi I have an 83 toyota carb 22r and I have had some issues that at first I'd though had gone away. I was having troubles with the fuel getting to the carb and soon found that it was a faulty fuel pump. I replaced it and it ran like a champ. Besides replacing the pump, Ive also replaced the fuel air and oil filter and sparks. Here's what happens though, every time I reach a 1/4 tank the truck stumbles and as I let the accelerator off it dies to a stop. Then I start it up and it runs rough and dies. I had to turn the idle on my carb up to get her home. Im getting pissed my only idea is I have to drop the fuel tank. please Help. ~Lucas
Replace the fuel filter? Line might be cloged. Never hurts to drop the gas tank and drain it and give it a good cleaning so it dont get crap in the lines later.
Sounds like the pickup is rusted or broken off in the tank. If it only happens when you're low on fuel its easy, keep it full.
Maybe your gauge isnt reading properly and its showing 1/4 but really has nothin but fumes. Or like White Trash said, keep it gassed up
well I gassed her up and she drove well down the road. I took it around the block a few times and then as I got to my cross street it died to a stop. I started it up and the fan belt started winning like crazy as I crossed the road down to my house then it died.Lifted the hood and adjusted the idle speed because I had adjusted it after filling it up and it idled fine. Took it out later and it missed once while drivin and then died again. I dunno maybe the new fuel filter is clogged up again, it looks ok just alittle pinkish red. It's got all new hoses but I guess it could be a vaccum leak.... It was running so great after I put the new mechanical fuel pump on 3weeks ago
Just joined need help. I got a 93' 2wd pickup need help on what bucket seats will match my bolt pattern for this model. and one more thing I just had a muffler installed, my check engine light stays on and is it because the catalytic converter got taken out and is it normal to be like that?
Dont think that would matter any. But i still think you need to drop the gas tank and clean it out? Then put the clean filter and blow all lines out. Might help. Bro nice to have ya on TM but start your own intro thread. Plus the search button is your best friend on here. Use it.
