Hello- New to the forum I am looking at a 83 Hilux long bed for sale- The body an fenders are badly rusted but the drivetrain solid...so I may try to use an existing bed, fenders, hood I have from my old land rover series 11a. If anyone could help with some dimensions of the following I would really appreciate it? 1. Wheel base of the long bed- I have seen 109 listed and 110.6- Which is it? 2. Bed length and width? 3. Frame rails width? 4. length of front door 5. length of front fenders 6. Width of front end If anyone has the dimensions or a source to find them- Thx I woudl go measure the truck but it is a over 300 miles away..... Any other words of wisdom about the 83 toyota's..... Thx, Tim
Welcome to the site! I have some of those measurements for you. The bed is 59" from the top edge and 63" to the widest point and 84"1/2 to the tail gate The door is 39" at the longest point Front fenders across the center are 45"1'2 And the frame rails are 41" apart at the rear of the truck. Hope that helps
Thanks! Ashton Thanks- Pretty scary but the land rover bed is within about 1/2 an inch, the fenders are the same dimension lenght wise The door are different - My rover is 34 inch vs what looks to be 39 inch on the toyota.. The hybrid project may just work- A Landrover front end and bed and keep the Toyota cab... Now that is one ugly truck but imagine a Toyota longevity of drive train with an alum never rust body..... I'll keep you posted... Thanks again
fiberglass beds are avaliable .. cheep and easy .. they will NEVER rust either .. tougher then steel , with kevlar rienforcing tough nuggets + there is NEVER any electrolicis as with alum.
