I bought this corolla runs great, drives good, trans grinds some... but anyway, It will crank everytime when warm, but if it sits over night I need to pour gas in the carb or spray starter fluid in the breather and it cranks right up.

Does anyone know of anything I can do that doesnt involve getting a new carb. I already got this carb cleaner stuff that says spray it for 2 seconds at high idle, I did that mulitple times and it fixed the hessitation issue the carb was having, also made it look a lot cleaner, but didnt fix the starting issue. after sitting a lot time, and cranking it sounds like it wants to at first but then nothing, its like when its cold its not putting any gas out. I need to call the guy that rebuilt my truck carb, did it for 50 plus parts.

Manual or auto choke? Sounds like the auto choke is buggered.

sounds like your fuel pump is bad or the filter is really dirty

i had the same thing happening on my mustang with an edelbrock carb.

i had to prime it everytime, but once started it would run. i thought it was the pump but pulled the carb apart and a couple of the little passages were plugged. i cleaned them out and it fixed the problem.

my 20r carb was very similar to an edelbrock (everyone says they are easy.. lol). only real difference was one less float, and one extra check ball..

Weird thing is it worked perfectly this morning, then once I got out of school it was back to its old self, going to change the fuel filter again, it was sitting for 6 months before I got it and smelled like old gas bad, but it has a full tank now, well had, its 3/4 now full.
