    Allow me to introduce myself:

Scored this 81 5 speed longbed this past weekend. Advertised as "22R, runs, 187K miles, 2WD". No one in AK thinks 2WD vehicles are usable in the winter, so I decided to take full advantage of the $1100 asking price. $800 and a 3 hour trip later, I had my 3rd 2WD yota (wrecked 22RE and 98 taco previously...)

Anyway, it's a little ugly at the moment, but has a long list of to-dos already. Looks like a pretty damn clean base to me. Almost no rust, (unheard around here, especially on something so well known for rusting out), very straight body. maybe eventually an LT1 or LS1 swap but that's a long ways down the road. List as of now: Fix the oil and coolant leaks, get the valves checked so I know it isn't going to spontaneously blow up, find out why the odometer doesn't work, stop the slow brake fluid seep from the master cyl, 3" blocks + torsion crankdown followed by an alignment (pulls pretty good to the left and the steering's off center, decent stereo, steal the bench out of my wrecked Taco and make it fit, maybe put some carpet in it, paint the entire thing flat black or flat white, throw on the 17's from the taco, get rid of the ghastly tow hitch on it, ****can the canopy (done already), freshen up the interior if I can find some pieces (visors, door panels, lock tabs...), maybe ditch those big mirrors for something a little cleaner.

That should be a good start for the time being. It'll be a sweet daily driver, I guess I'll find out how well it does in the winter time with 5-6 months worth of carbureted cold starts. Here goes nothing!

And the reason I got this truck in the first place...
