Truck was back behind the house when I found it and hadn't been touched in a couple years. 34" Super Swampers and a body that is not trashed. Transmission would make a shift pattern but motor wasn't running. Today motor runs, shifter goes to reverse only and will not make the H anymore. Reverse position will not move the truck. The others never get in position at all. Pulled shifter and it is very worn. I could see a shifter not letting the arm travel far enough to get in a gear like the reverse but not let me make the H. Before I drop the trans or sell the truck, does anyone have another idea?
so if im getting this right with the truck off you cant get the shifter to move into any gear but reverse? does the shifter feel lose and sloppy when you cant find the H or is it tight feeling but just wont go in gear? wonder if the body lift and shifter extension is causing an issue, is the shifter stock or did they chop it up to make it fit the body lift? also is the shifter hitting the floor inside the tunnel since its got a body lift, ive seen that before lol.
Shifter is worn and sloppy. I say stick is stock. Hitting the edge of the hole is not the problem. Considering cutting the hump so I can access the other plate from the top. This should get me to the forks. All to keep from dropping transmission until I have to. Good idea or bad? Will I be able to fix anything from the top? Will a better shifter fix my problem. I think even a worn shifter should make the H. yes or No?
Looked for parts today at wrecking yards. No luck. Tried again working with shifter and now transmission is making the H and shifting gears. Travel is questionable because of the slop. I can see a new seat and bushing fixing most of this problem. The shifter itself is worn at the side grooves. Where can I look for a replacement. What year did this shifter stop being used?
