    So here we go,

Been looking to start this for a while.....

So the truck is a 1980 longbed had a 20r in it has a removable hardtop shaved
    handles and tails

The plan for the truck is to finish the 1uz swap and bag it.

    Picked up a 1uz outta 92 SC and w58

My buddy has a powder coating set up, so i bought him a sixer and some powder and started coatin

    Got some mounts in

Paired those with so bomb proofs

Then i found a screamin deal on some compressors

Those will sit on the shelf for a little while, but cant pass up a sale

Finally decided to start thining out the harness

Then the rain let up so i decided to pull the 20r and trans out...

Out she comes and there she goes...

Cleaned the bay up a bit and pulled the trucks harness into the cab

    And then some rain...

But you cant let a little rain scare you away

    There's the uz's new home

    So the to do list:

-Finish melding the truck's harnes to the uz's
    -bolt the trans up
    -install drive line
    -install radiator and fans
    -buy/install fuel pump

That sums up most of what needs to happen to finish the swap...

Why did you swap the oil pan setup? Is there a clearance issue with the older trucks?

yea it dropped in no problem, but I didn't install it with the trans so that probably helped, and it was pretty tight with the brake booster being right there.

and there might be a issue with hood clearance

haha yea Washington weather doesn't permit a whole lotta use from it, but i bought it this way.
i got it off a guy who brought it from CA. when i got the truck i put in the 20r with the side drafts and the header. the top is super easy to install and remove it just donest like to sit in the rain for days on end.

but since i have the UZ in, i can move it back in the garage with the bikes.

I got a real good deal on the UZ and trans with the adapter from a guy who was gonna swap it in a corolla wagon, he traded the original one for one of a LS400.

it dropped in just fine, BUT i had to remove the steering dampener, i was hopping i could just extend the bracket a couple inches and remount the dampener.

in my research, there are a few AUS companies who make rear sump pans, but i didn't know if it was worth the time to try and get one

Hello fellow 1uz swapper. This makes me happy. Where did you get your mount from? It looks like an Xcessive Manufacturing piece. Did it mount up well?
One word of caution when altering the harness. I have done this on two 1uz swaps and both times I ran into idle control valve issues. I believe I removed a needed wire both times. On the other three 1uz swaps I performed without altering the harnes, the motors idled perfectly. I haven't spent the time figuring it out yet. I just rigged the ICSV to hold the idle at about 700-800. Makes cold starts hard.

Good work. Your gonna love this motor in your truck.

    BTW,
The SC400 1uz has a rear sump. I'm suprised the front sump you have cleared the x-member. A sc400 sump may allow you to mount the engine lower if you have issues with the bellhousing clearing the trans tunnel.

Yea i bought this set up from a guy who was gonna swap it into a corolla wagon, he traded out the rear sump for a front sump,

The big mount issue i had was the steering dampener

And there is another issue with the front sump and no flex plate
    [IMG]

So if i can find one, ill get a rear sump and change it out...

Or i have couple buddies who are pretty good with fabbing things up i might do something like this

And build a small inspection plate to cover the flywheel hole...

    small update :

worked on the cover plate for flywheel

used some card stock to mock it up

then transferred to a piece of aluminum and cut it out

    did the test fit up

so ill do a little trimming... and then paint it up.

it should be sufficient to keep out rocks and any thing else thatd want to hit my flywheel...
