Just out of interest, I'm looking into purchasing this bed and noticed it has more side hooks than my bed? Would that be because its a Japanese bed? Thanks
looks like somebody removed the hooks on the second bed somewhat. i had 3 per side on my USDM long bed. maybe somebody added em, more hooks are a good thing, keep people from leaning on your truck
i noticed a while back that on the 78 and older style, long beds had 3. but shortbeds have 4. no clue why. lol. his may have been added. and his theory is right. people dont like to lean against something that wont let go when they get up. lol. or have like mine where the top rail is a slight step down to sit onto.
MY 79 HAS THREE ON IT TO, IM THINKING ITS THE YEAR? THREE HOOKS WITH THE TWO TAILGATE LATCH'S AND TWO HOOKS WITH THE SINGLE TAILGATE LATCH.
I have seen long beds with 2-3-4 side hooks; do not know why. A Japanese bed, at least 1982 & 1983 trucks, has no separate panels on the bed sides, the bed sides are one piece or seamless. They also have the center tailgate release. I do not know how the 1979-1981 Japanese beds were made.
1980 Jap made bed, seamed sides, with side latches, and 3 hooks per side, 2 on the tailgate. I believe it's an SR5, but the PO repainted the truck(poorly!) and lost some of the interior panels B4 I got it... If only they could see it now!
my 83 longbed has 2 per side and none on the tailgate... ive heard it also matters what body style you have (basic, sr5, ect.)
