I'm trying to find a 3:42 gear for my truck and I have an ad to swap my 4:10's for them. I got an email from a guy who has a '92 looking for 4:10's. Did 92's have 7.5" ring gears for 2wd or just 8"? Also are the spline counts the same?

If it matches up I may swap with the guy. anyone know? I found a chart with ratios but not the rest of the info. I figure Raff would know this off the top of his head. Right? ;)

All F code 7.5 R&P gearsets are interchangable.

Want to swap chunks? Ive got the 3.42 and really need 4.10's or +.

The pinion flange did change between early and late trucks IIRC. A problem BYE was having. Something about either 12 or 14MM driveshaft bolts.

If memory serves just like the 8" the only thing that changed was the pinion flange pattern and a change from 8mm to 10mm bolts. Not a problem to change the flange or to simply drill the correct pattern into the existing flange. The axle shaft spline count and size should be unchanged.

I gots no truck, for now
axle splines are the same, flanges change. its easy to swap flanges but some of them have different pinion splines. If its the splines are the same make sure you tighten the pinion nut holding the flange on the same amount you took it off or else you can crush the crush washer more and change your pinion to ring gear lash.

Yea that would be cool. I"ll have to wait a few weeks to have the time to pull it out. We could just each take care of the shipping and it would be an even swap.

Yea, pinion flange differences only between the 7.5's... I do still have my stock r&p for sale... It's either 3:42 or 3:52 ready to box up and ship...
