im wireing in the ignitor and coil with the green plug to my 73 hilux. The coil came of an 87 pickup, i cant edit the stupid title for somereason. I need to know which wire or wires get power and ground on the 2 wire connector that goes into the coil/ignitor. My wireing diagrams suck and i dont have a truck here to test on. thanks! the wires are 1 yellow and 1 white thanks!
Not sure, but this might help you. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=389&highlight=electronic+ignition
nope thats not the ignitor i have, i have the one of an 87 pickup/4runner. has 3 plugs on it, one goes to the distributor, one is the test plug and the 3rd is the one that supplies power/ground/something i dont know lol. its those 2 wires that i need to test.
this is the coil and this is the plug that i need to know what goes to it..power, ground, nothing i donno
Gonna answer your question with a question. Do you have a factory tach? The plug your holding was used for the factory tach. If you don't have a factory tach, just leave it unplugged or you can get a tach adaptor and put in an aftermarket tach.
ok..well how do i power this coil then? these are the only plugs on it. The one with the black cover is for a tach right, what wire do i power on the connector with the 2 wires going into it. Its the plug my fingers are on in the picture.
Your right. I was wrong with my last post. That does appear to be for the tach. Sorry about the added confusion. I was looking around and i've found a picture of the first truck i owned. Just so happened, I took a picture of the coil, but its not very clear on what it connects to. I'll take a look at the wiring diagram and see if i can get you a definite answer. Here's the pic anyway.
Ohhh??? hey!! so if i get a speedometer that has a tach for RPM's, i can hook that black wire to the RPM thing? cool... or can i just go out and buy an after market rpm tach?
