I have four dd eights, and it looks like the best option for me would be a five sided sub box. Was wondering if anyone has built one, and the best suggestion on mounting the frame to the back wall of the cab. Pull the bed off, and screw the sheet metal? Just for clarifacation, I will be sound deading and fiberglass the back wall.
I just did a box for mine for 2 8" soundqubed hds208 and I got about 1.85cu after sub displacement tuned to 33hz using a DIY aero port. I had them sealed at first and let me tell you go ported got about 2x louder ported then sealed. Do you have any rough dimension you would be using. Mine are 8" bottom,5"top,17.5"high and 44"wide and my subs barely fit. Here's a pic of mine have mounted using L brackets
Is there a reason that you didn't go down to the floor? I asume that your box sits on top of the trans tunnel?
Yea sits ontop of tran tunnel. I was gonna go to the floor but my bass amp didn't fit under the seat so it's mounted under box on one side and on other side I'm going to mount a second battery
The difference between a ported or sealed enclosure is dependent on a bunch of things. A ported enclosure isn't always "louder" or better. Some subs respond better in a ported enclosure and some can't handle it at all. You really need someone to design the box for you, at least give you some numbers.... You have to start with your limitations. In your case, it's the space restraints. Once you know how much box volume you can create, then it's a matter of plugging in the numbers into a proper program. I personally use BassBox Pro. Once I pull up the Thiele/Small parameters and have the box volume, then I can calculate how many of the drivers is going to be most efficient, and what size the port needs to be IF it would be beneficial. I'd also need your amplifier situation and model numbers of the drivers.
I'm pushing around 1000watts to the pair, have them wired down at 1ohm on a hifonics Brutus brx2000.1d. Are your DD 1008s or 1508s
Nice should get loud, those can get low and loud. Try emailing DD and ask them what's there recommended box size(cubic ft) per sub and see how much cubic ft you will have to work with behind your seat. Sometimes having more subs and not enough air space can be less loud than having less subs in there recommended air space.
My buddy is a dd dealer, he's going to help me with it. Just looking for ideas for what other people have done. Thanks!!!!
There's really not much we can do on these single cabs lol, have you thought about maybe going with bucket seats?
