depending if you are talking about a 2 door or 4 door 4runner, you can do door panels. the more padded looking dash will go in if you wanna do that much work. seats are a common swap. might be able to trim off the side plastic panels if its a 2 door to fit behind your door. carpet if its 2wd and you cut it off at the cab wall. things like that. pretty much anything door forward can be made to work. i had the console in my 92 with mr2 seats, it fit nice.
trying to do a 4door 4runner interior into a 89 extra cab what will i need to do to pull and swap dash?
other than the paddedness, the dash will be pretty much the same. id assume you have to take all of the cluster and lower portions off. ive done that, there isnt much more after that getting the whole thing out. you might be able to do door panels, but measure them...i heard some had different length front doors compared to the 2 door and/or pickups. visors, tilt wheel, rear view, possible overhead console, pretty much anything you see could be made to work. they arent that different of trucks.
The dashes are slightly different. Where it seperates is different and where the middle curves around to the glove box is slightly different. So if you want a 4runner dash you would have to swap the whole thing.
a couple other random things the 4runner dome light/rear view mirror is a cool upgrade. I personally swapped my entire steering column for a 4runner tilt column with intermittent wipers. If you are running speakers in the stock dash location and the 4runner is equipped with speaker boxes in the dash absolutely grab those.
Ive got a good bit of 4-runner parts in my interior as well...I swaped out the pillar panels-(these have the oh **** handles on them lol), visors, done light, rear view mirror & Ive got a tilt colum that is going in soon. Ive also got a 4-runner console that Im planning to install soon too.
I got a quick question. Can you put an intermittent wiper control arm in the base model trucks that don't have it?
If you can find the complete column from and sr5 or 4runner, I think its a direct swap. This way you get intermittent wipers, the steering wheel can be raised or lowered, and you get this cool courtesy light that shines on the ignition lock.
Ive got one of the 4-runner rear view mirror & cluster installed, but Ill get some more of the other parts Ive got soon.
Actually that is the stock headliner...its blue vinyl. Im going to change it this winter & replace it with a black one.
So I would have to replace the whole column not just the control arm? Maybe I won't to it anytime soon.
you don't need the entire column, just the wiper/turn signal/ headlight switch assembly. If you don't have tilt you might as well just swap the entire column because its only 5 bolts away at that point.
Lol i got most of thta already. tilt wheel, dome light/rear view, intermittent wipers.. just no power options =(
For the wiring of the 4runner map mirror how did you go about that? I have one with the pig tail and there are 2 wires. I'm guessing power and gound?
the wiring should be the same for both mirrors. atleast thats how it was fo mine. now will someone answer my question about the tilt column?
