if you have a first gen 4Runner, you know the exhaust fumes issue im talking about...... the one where if you roll the back window down while driving you get all those nice sweet rich, high octane or race gas smelling fumes of exhaust coming in the cab as the back draft comes in........ has anyone here figured out a way to prevent that from happening? i noticed its not such a huge issue with the later 4Runners and on...... the only thing i can figure out that they did was add the rear defuser on the top rear section of the gate to (from what i can gather) deflect wind down towards the window preventing that low pressure area of wind while driving to suck in the fumes...... i think i may pick one up from the local yard and give it a try and see what happens....... ill keep you guys posted.
Yeah, the only other option might be to move the exhaust tip as far forward as possible to allow it to mix with more fresh air before entering.
that is excatly what that "wing" is for. you can also try routing the exhaust to the side rather then straight back. you might see less hwy mpg with the wing tho.
Hey Alex, I got one for you. I was planning to add it to my 4runner but never did. I then thought how it would look on my truck and quickly ditched that idea. It's now sitting in the backyard. Hit me up or tell Allan to come pick it up for you.
