Title sums it up. New from Grand Rapids area of Michigan. Just picked up a 93 4runner last sunday (3/24/13). I havent built in a mini truck in just over 5 years, kinda moved back into restoring, pro touring, and low rods. Anyways I Plan to shave, bag, and stock floor body drop it on 20s. Its currently a 4wd, had a 2wd pickup front frame section dropped off yesterday to my work. I am moving next saturday, so my buddy/foreman and I will be starting the new chassis before and after work hours until my new garage is wired for lights and welder. And on top of that have a baby on the way may 2nd, so progress will come and go in spurts. Well here is were the project stands somewere in Indiana 4 runner and 2wd clip 88 TPI sbc I am going to use....left over from previous project
Thanks, seems like everyone is doing 5.3 swaps. I love the look of the TPI plenum and runner tubes. Or as a fellow club member calls it, the Don Johnson motor.
Yea Ls series motors are popular seem to be evey were theses days ..I'm a fan of the of the 350 block being that there simple and cheap and parts are everywhere .+ easy power althouth I do curse my lt1 a lot don't think I give in to a Ls series anytime soon
nice! any pictures yota4life? I could use some inspiration! Hoping to have the frame done by the end of the week.
can't wait to see it layed. lots of cutting to get one bodied on 20's. mines bagged on 18's with mazda i.r.s. to keep the rear seat stock.
Cool, Im doing underslung frame and reverse 4 link to retain backseat. Been a hectic unproductive week, have 1 lower link TIG welded, and the other lower link bar half done. Need to cope the other end and TIG on the bushing. On a plus, the frame rails are cut and prepped. We just need to find the time to tack it all together and attatch to front 2wd stub. Will get pics when theres enough actual progress worth taking a picture of.
well took some time to get some progress going. Going to have to stop again, someone got butt hurt at after hours work being done. So it has to go home to be finished. lower links TIG welded. Laser cut bag brackets start of the underslung frame
on an underslung frame there is no real c notch. the axle sits above the frame which saves room for a back seat.
mine had the reverse link. the main problem with the back seat is the drive shaft and the pinion. it has to go way into the floor, which won't allow the stock bench. you can raise it but i found it makes too little headroom for an adult. if you do buckets in the back it should work. just wasn't an option for me having 3 kids lol
also plan on a reverse 4 link. May not be able to do stock rear seat, thinking camaro/firebird backseat. Also have two kids, when theres a will theres a way!
dinking around, 225/30/20's streeeeeetched. Been going in to work at 330ish in the morning working on my frame. Just have to figure angles to connect new frame to 2wd clip. Hopefully I will be dragging the frame home this weekend
